Africa Child Care Forum – Rwanda

From May 6–9, 2025, I had the privilege of representing Mama Children’s Village at the 1st Africa Childcare Forum (ACF2025Kigali) in Kigali, Rwanda. Held under the theme “Strengthening Evidence, Accelerating Action,” the forum brought together more than 500 experts, policymakers, and innovators from across Africa — all united by a common goal: ensuring access to quality, affordable childcare for every child on the continent.

The experience was both eye-opening and deeply inspiring. Over four days, we engaged in powerful discussions, shared lessons from the field, and explored practical solutions to Africa’s childcare challenges. I was especially drawn to the sessions highlighting community-based childcare models and the role of evidence in shaping better policies — topics that strongly resonate with the work we do at Mama Children’s Village.

Beyond the sessions, the networking and exhibitions provided a unique opportunity to connect with organizations pioneering innovative approaches to early childhood care and development. It was encouraging to see the growing momentum for collaboration across governments, NGOs, and private actors — a true reflection of Africa’s readiness to act.

Coming back home, I felt renewed hope and determination. The conversations at ACF2025Kigali reaffirmed that our work at Mama Children’s Village is part of a larger continental movement — one that values children’s wellbeing as the foundation of sustainable development. Together, we are building a future where every African child is nurtured, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
